Paul believes that the Martin Luther King, Jr. articulation of the “giant triplets of racism, militarism and extreme materialism” remains compelling over 50 years after King’s murder and suggests that what we often analyze as structural injustice is a complex and comprehensive tapestry of violence plaguing and deforming virtually every aspect of life on Earth.
His own background centered in many years' participation in the Catholic Worker movement, Paul has worked with and supported many causes in the past (notably its solidarity with Puerto Rico’s liberation movement), and has spent his career advocating for the poor and marginalized. He is a resident of Baltimore’s Jonah House, a 45-year-old faith-based community committed to nonviolent resistance to war and kindred oppressions.
Pax Christi Metro DC-Baltimore is a region of Pax Christi USA, a national section of Pax Christi International. Rooted in the Gospel and Catholic Social Teaching, we witness to Jesus’ teaching and example of nonviolence, rejecting war and affirming the sacredness of human life and the dignity of the human person.
