THE ISRAEL-PALESTINE CONFLICT - LIVES IN THE BALANCE

On April 27th, 2019, we held our spring conference and learned why this is a pivotal moment for peace, justice, human rights and security and why this issue is of major importance to all members of the Abrahamic faiths – Jews, Christians, and Muslims.

Program Overview: The morning included a short overview film (see below), followed by a Q&A session about what is happening in the Holy Land. We then had presentations by each of our speakers, followed by a Q&A session regarding the presentations. We ended with short presentations on how we can best continue to educate ourselves on this issue and to advocate and take other action for a just and peaceful solution for all.

PaxChristi Metro DC-Baltimore and attendees heard from five distinguished speakers on this vital subject who provided us with up-to-date information. Our speakers were:

Marie Dennis – Co-President of Pax Christi International. Marie has worked on bringing justice and peace to the HolyLand for decades.

Dr. Mark Braverman – Executive Director of Kairos USA. Mark is a Jewish psychologist from a Conservative Jewish(and Zionist) family.

Jamal Najjab – Government Relations Coordinator for American Muslims for Palestine and an active member of Jewish Voice for Peace, DC.

Leah Muskin-Pierret – Manager of Congressional and Grassroots Advocacy for U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights.

Tom McCarthy – MD/DC/VA Coordinator for Creating Friendships for Peace. Tom has been working for many years to bring high school students from both sides of the conflicts in Northern Ireland, Cyprus, and now Israel-Palestine to the U.S. each summer to meet each other.
